In my last update, I told you guys that my old blogposts didn't transfer to my new site when I relaunched. :( As sad as it was, I knew I still wanted to share those blogposts on here. So, I came up with #throwbackposts that I will be posting on Thursdays. This blogpost was one of my top rated post on my old blog, so I had to repost it! Hopefully it continues to bless both my new and old readers! :)
Anxiousness: Experiencing worry, unease, or nervousness, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome.
Why is it so easy to develop anxiousness, yet challenging to go into a restful state? I know for me when I am anxious about something it deters me from what is in front of me. My mind starts to think of the worst things possible and fear starts to set in. I start creating things in my mind that most likely won't even happen. But why do we do that? Why do we allow thoughts to multiply within ourselves? From life choices, change, the future, our career, family, health it seems like nothing is off limits. It's like we are our own worst enemies when it comes to worrying. Even the smallest things that shouldn't concern us can make its way in consuming our mind if we aren't careful. We can dig ourselves into a pit without even realizing it, and we miss who we really need to go to with those thoughts.
When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, Your comforts delight me.
Psalm 94:19 AMP
I love when I find scriptures that just gives me a whole new revelation, and I am able to identify with the writer. I believe that God is so intentional when He allows us to identify with those in the bible. He knew the great benefits it would be for us by seeing that even people in the bible went through similar situations. The author of this Psalm, was just like us. They experienced times where their thoughts just consumed them. It doesn't go into detail what those anxious thoughts were, but this doesn't negate that you can apply this to your current situations.
Comfort can be defined as the easing or alleviation of a person's feelings of grief or distress. When you are anxious, you are distressed right? Well be encouraged, because God is the god of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3-5).When we seek Him our comfort is found. He wants to delight us with His comforts in the midst of anxious thoughts. So, we can trust in His willingness to comfort us in those moments. When we look to the Lord we take our focus off of the things that don't matter. Those anxious thoughts no longer have room to crowd our mind; because we are looking to the one that is bigger than any problem or issue we may face.
Let today's verse be an encouragement to you when those anxious thoughts try to take over you. You can be an anxiety slayer when you remember the promises filled in the word of God. Think upon the goodness of our God, and what is found in the comfort of His arms. He hasn't failed in keeping you this far, so He is faithful to continue. I know this sometimes can be challenging, but when you remember those times in the past where God has came through for you, you will see that it is possible. He cares about the things that you care about. So we can trust Him with the things that concern us. Just talk to Him about it.He is right there promising peace in the midst of your storm.
Join me in slaying anxiety by exchanging anxious thoughts for the comforts of the Lord! I hope this blessed you in some way.
As always, stay beautiful inside and out xoxo
